Dr. Kimberly A. Parker is an Associate Professor at Texas Womans University in Denton, TX. She has earned a PhD from the University of Georgias College of Public Health, a MPH from the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina, and is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist. Dr. Parker conducts qualitative and mixed-methods research on women and minority health issues and currently serves as the Principle Investigator for several research projects. Her primary studies are Be-PrEPared, a curriclum development project to assess the implementation of a multi-strategies intervention to increase knowledge and awareness about PrEP among cis- and trans-women of color, Lend Us Your Voice Project, a qualitative study which examines the lived experience of HIV positive African American women in the South, and the HIV risk assessment study which examines multiple variables associated with contracting HIV, social vulnerabilities, and HIV risk perceptions among African American women. She has also spearheaded several public health curriculum design and evaluation projects related to HIV prevention and womens health issues. Dr. Parker has written several manuscripts on HIV/AIDS, the intersection of race and gender, and minority health issues, and has served as a guest columnist for the Dallas Morning News and The Body. Her research interest includes social sexual factors that influence HIV transmission and health disparities among vulnerable populations.

Marc H V Van Regenmortel is currently an Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS (French National Research Center) in the School of Biotechnology of the University of Strasbourg, France. He was for 22 years Director of the Immunochemistry Laboratory at the CNRS Molecular Biology Institute in Strasbourg and previously was a professor at several universities in South Africa and France. He served (1984-1990) as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Virology Division of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) and was Secretary General of IUMS from 1990 to 1999. He was also for six years (1996-2002) President of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. He supervised the research work of 30 PhD students and has published 400 research and review papers as well as 17 books in the fields of Virology and Immunochemistry. In 2009 he co-edited with Brian Mahy of the CDC in Atlanta, the third edition of the Encyclopedia of Virology in 5 volumes published by Elsevier. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Virology, Journal of Molecular Recognition and Journal of AIDS & Clinical Research; An Associate Editor of Advances in Virus Research, Frontiers in Immunotherapies and Vaccines, Journal of Immunological Methods, ISRN Immunology and Bionomina.

Dr Stef Stienstra is a Strategic and creative development manager in biomedical science, with a parallel career as a reserve commander of the Royal Dutch Navy. For the Dutch Armed Forces he has a responsibility in the counter measures in CBNRe threats and consequence management both in a military and in a civilian (terrorism) context. In his civil career he works internationally as consultant or as scientific supervisory board member for several medical and biotech companies. At this moment for MT-Derm in Berlin (D) developing a novel intradermal vaccination technology, IQ Therapeutics in Groningen (NL) developing therapeutic antibodies against anthrax and orthopox viruses, Hemacon in Düsseldorf (D) developing a field donor blood separation and blood transfusion unit, Infection Control in Eemnes (NL) developing a bio-disinfection system for bioterrorism consequence management and IB Consulting in The Hague (NL) for biodefense projects. He has finished his studies Medicine and Biochemistry in The Netherlands and has extensive practical experience in cell biology, immuno-haematology, biodefense and transfusion medicine. His natural business acumen and negotiation competence helps to initiate new successful businesses, often created out of unexpected combinations of technologies. His good understanding of abstract science combined with excellent skills in the communication of scientific matters to non-specialists, helps him with strategic consulting at top level management.

Timms is Professor of Microbiology and Director of Research at QUT’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation in Brisbane Australia. He is a nationally and internationally renowned microbiologist with specific expertise in the area of Chlamydia. His laboratory is acknowledged as the leading Australian laboratory and one of the leading groups internationally working on all aspects of chlamydial infections. Timms has published over 170 refereed journal papers and is editor of the journal, Pathogens and Disease.

He leads a well established research team of 10 people. His research group is developing vaccines and new diagnostics for chlamydial diseases in humans and animals as well as an improved understanding of chlamydial genomics, cell biology and pathogenicity. The group is widely acknowledged for its major contributions to chlamydial infections in koalas and other wildlife, including the development of a vaccine for koalas.
